To go along with reading Thomas Edison: The Great Inventor by Caryn
Jenner you will be writing an opinion essay about the invention Thomas
Edison created that you think is best. All of his inventions mentioned in the
story are listed below. Your job is to pick his best invention from the list.
You will have time in class research this invention and to find 3 more
supporting details to back up your opinion. You will write these details on a
writing template. After completion you will transform the information organized
on your template into an opinionated essay!

This
activity will be further enhanced in computer class. We will take their
opinionated essay, type it up and post it to www.teinvent.blogspot.com. After the initial comments are made and approved, you will
have another opportunity in computer class to read through all of your
classmates’ comments. During this class you will be instructed to pick at least
one of your classmates’ opinion essays and reply to it.
For example: “I really liked your reasons for why the light bulb was his best
invention, they made me rethink my choice of X-rays.”
